Although WipEout HD is a PSN download-exclusive game, it looks like it may be priced like a standard retail game. A snapshot of the game's Trophy screen shows a Platinum Trophy for the game -- one that's reserved for full retail games. Shorter, cheaper games on PSN, such as PixelJunk Eden, Super Stardust HD and PAIN, do not feature a Platinum Medal. However, full-priced retail games, such as Uncharted, do grant Platinum Trophies.

With this evidence, we can postulate that WipEout HD will be available for download for at least $30 (the cost of Warhawk, downloaded from the PLAYSTATION Store). SCEA still hasn't announced an official release date or price for the game, but rest assured that the news is forthcoming.

If you thought yesterday's Trophy news was good, today's will knock your socks off!! Today, we managed to view some fantastic games and the cherry on top of this was when these bad boys were confirmed to receive Trophies.

There were 4 main publishers on our appointment cards today, namely; SouthPeak, Midway, SEGA and big boys, EA. The vast majority of the titles on show today looked great and some actually looked golden already.

Anyway I'll stop dilly-dallying, the following upcoming publishers responded to the following titles and their Trophy situation.

Two Worlds: The Temptation - Trophy support confirmed.

X-Blades - Trophy support confirmed.

Mortal Kombat v DC Universe - Trophy support confirmed.

This is Vegas - Trophy support confirmed.

The Wheelman - Trophy support confirmed.

The Godfather II - Trophy support confirmed.

Need For Speed Underground - Not 100% and I quote "maybe"

Mirror's Edge - Trophy support confirmed.

Stormrise - Trophy support confirmed.

Alpha Protocol - Trophy support confirmed.

Bayonetta - Trophy support confirmed.

Sonic Unleashed - Trophy support = another "maybe".

Heroes Over Europe - Trophy support confirmed.

Alone in the Dark - No Trophy support.

Again, that pretty much wraps up the day, some great titles there particularly Bayonetta and Alpha Protocol which rank as two of my favourite games of Leipzig this year. Look out tomorrow for news from Bethesda, Warner Bros, Codemasters, Rockstar and more EA goodness.

PS3TROPHIES

And here is the general consensus from day 1. I'll warn you know though, the day started badly for Sony's Trophy system, but certainly got better throughout the day.

Click the jump for the full list of confirmed Trophy titles.

  • Prince of Persia - No Trophy support

  • HAWX - Trophy support confirmed

  • Shaun White's Snowboard - Trophy support confirmed

  • Borderlands - Trophy support confirmed

  • Spider Man: Web of Shadows - Probably not because it was too late in the development stage to add them in.

  • Far Cry 2 - Trophy support confirmed

  • EndWar - Trophy support confirmed

  • Quantum of Solace - Trophy support confirmed

  • Call of Duty: World at War - Trophy support confirmed

  • Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon - Trophy support confirmed

So there you have it, as the holiday period approaches, more and more titles get Trophy support. Unfortunately the impressive looking Prince of Persia will not, but surely Far Cry 2 and Call of Duty: World at War will make everyone sleep a little sounder tonight.

Did you buy NovaStrike only to find yourself stuck on the first or second level? Fret no longer, as the game's massive update is nearly here. We chatted with Kevin McCann of Tiki Games about what to expect from this near redesign of the game.

"I'm really hoping the update helps a lot of existing owners that are frustrated with the difficulty to enjoy the game," he said. "I've spent a *lot* of time on tuning the difficulty (particularly on RECRUIT and SOLDIER), and brought more folks through to play it, so this should be closer to the mark in being accessible from very casual to hardcore gamers (and believe me - I'm still including a challenging mode for those that want it)."

As far as Trophies go, they've been implemented into the game and will activate when the update becomes available. There are 16 Trophies - 12 bronze and four silver. Among the bronze Trophies are three with secret requirements. Be on the lookout for a full Trophy listing later this week.

The update will be submitted to Sony for approval in the very near future. In fact, it may have already been submitted in the 13 hours since I spoke with McCann. Basically, expect to see it live fairly soon.

Here's the complete list of changes that you'll see in the update:

* Difficulty - Tuned to be easier in existing modes while adding a HARDCORE mode for those that really want a challenge
* Fully Customizable Controls - A secondary control layout that has an alternate control mapping scheme will be included, but you'll also be able to customize the controls to your liking -- you can map weapon selection to face buttons and/or the digital pad, put the afterburner on a trigger, etc.
* Trophies - 16 total Trophies, 12 broze and four silver, will be added
* Player ship - The Scythe will be larger in size
* Fine Aim mode - Those having trouble lining up the Shredder and/or Trembler bomb will be able to hold a button down to slow down the Scythe's turning which this makes lining up on ground targets a lot easier
* Megapacks and repair packs - Will now replenish the capacitor bar for the afterburner
* Slight performance increase - Overall game optimized slightly

News has just come in that LucasArts upcoming Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed will not support the Playstation 3’s Trophy system.

We contacted Adam Kahn, LucasArts Senior PR Manager for confirmation and he responded with:

“The Force Unleashed does not support the trophy system on PS3. I can’t speculate about what might happen in the future, though.”

Could we be seeing Trophies in a future update? All we know is that the game won’t support Trophies when it’s released.

That doesn’t give you a reason not to buy the game because it looks brilliant. The game is scheduled to be released in September.

Are you going to buy it? Do Trophies mean a lot to you?

Many gamers have already asked me if Disgaea 3 will have full trophy support. I am sad to report that NIS America had confimed to me a few weeks ago that they were looking into it. However, as of now, there will be no Trophy Support.

As for the DLC, the extra character DLC will indeed be coming to the US through the Playstation Store, but there is no definite release date.

It seems like almost every game is getting Trophy support these days. Pretty soon, it won't be long until Trophies become standard across all games (and they'll stop being special!). A sharp reader noticed an image on IGN for the upcoming Blitz game that features the now-familiar icon with the next: "You have earned a trophy." Considering it's a multiplatform title, it's likely that the Trophies in Blitz will be identical to the Xbox 360's Achievements.

Here it is folks, the Trophy list for the PSN downloadable PAIN. Expect Trophies to be enabled on September 4th, the same day PAIN Amusement Park will be released. Unfortunately, in a rather distressing move, to get all the Trophies, you must buy extra characters. That's a real shame -- it's a practice we want to discourage.

Bronze Trophies

10 Mill Club: Get "PAIN in the Park" and "D-Town Destruction"
Harder Dick's Balls: Get all of Dick's Balls in the Block Party Dumpster without resetting
D-Town Destruction: Get 10,000,000 score in PAINdemonium and Aftermath
Combo Mambo: Get 20x Combo in PAINdemonium, Aftermath, Block Party and Demolition
Attention Spam: Get every type of PAIN (Groin, Head, Arm, Hand, Leg, Foot and Body) combo in PAINdemonium, Aftermath, Block Party and Demolition.

Silver Trophies
Dude Abides: Use "The Dude" to score 50 Strikes in Bowling

Gold Trophies

Affliction Addiction: Get one billion points
Add-on Character Trophies
Trill: Get PAINful Tosser Trophy with Scurv Dogg or Hung Lo
Grenade-A-Maid: Get Exploded 500 times with any female launchable character.

With Super Stardust HD being the first title to support Trophies, I think it’s good to get the most out of it. So here are my (and others) tips to obtain all Trophies from Super Stardust HD.

Hero of Lave (Bronze) : Arcade - Complete planet Lave
Build up your Rock Crusher (Green) by collecting the green colored tokens. This planet is all Rock Asteroids, so the Rock Crusher will take care of any asteroids and enemies that may pose a threat. Conserve your bombs and boost unless you get surrounded, then there’s no reason not to use one of the two escape options. To defeat the boss simply destroy its 4 propulsion systems.

Hero of Conventina (Bronze) : Arcade - Complete planet Coventina
Your main weapon here will be the Gold Melter (Red), so try to wait until the weapon powerups change Red before picking them up. You’ll encounter mostly Gold Asteroids here but on the last couple phases you’ll start to see a few Rock Asteroids fall in. The Boss is a robotic snake like creature that shoots from its body. Aim your weapon at the red piece in the center of its body. When it stops shooting run around to the other side of it and try to clear any asteroids in front of it then get in close and keep attacking. It’ll squeeze around you but you’ll still have plenty or room to maneuver. It’ll shoot some lasers while you’re in there but these are easy to avoid and do not kill you in a single shot.

Hero of Memain (Bronze) : Arcade - Complete planet Nemain
You main weapon here will be the Ice Splitter (Blue), so you know the drill. Most asteroids and enemies here can be taken down easily with the Ice Splitter, switch to whatever you need if any other types drop down or if an enemy is being hard to hit. Your boss fight here is two UFOs like the one you fought in Lave.

Hero of Taranis (Bronze) : Arcade -Complete planet Taranis
By this point you should know the drill and what weapons to use. Your boss fight will be two snake creatures like the one you fought in Conventina.

Hero of Segomo (Bronze) : Arcade - Complete planet Segomo
This is where it can get fun. You’ll now start to encounter a lot more enemies along with the asteroids, but nothing you shouldn’t be able to handle. Just to remember to keep moving and use the 360 fire spin to keep most things at bay if it gets crowded. The final phase here will pit you against the planet, sort of. You’ll see a tower of sorts drop down, attack the four sides of it (it rotates on its own) to damage them enough and they will point toward the planet. A bomb works wonders on these and will take all four pieces at once. If you don’t take the tower down quickly it will shoot missiles at you like the ones the snake did. Rinse and repeat with the tower.

The Tokenizer (Bronze) : Arcade - Collect 5 tokens with a single boost
Find a group of tokens that are together and boost your way through them. You’ll need a total of 5 in all. Bonus Asteroids help greatly with this.

Scrooge MacBoom (Bronze) : Arcade - Get 10 bombs
Just hold onto your bombs and you’ll get this one. You can get two additional bombs on the 2nd-4th phases of each planet by destroying the green crates the carrier holds.

Token Hoarder (Silver) : Arcade - Collect 15 tokens with a single boost
It is essential to do this to a Bonus Asteroid. Boost through the center of the asteroid and you should be able to get it, if not then try to get a couple tokens to trail you then boost through them and the asteroid.

Well Prepared (Silver) : Arcade - Get 20 bombs
Just keep your trigger finger off those bombs. If you don’t use any bombs and start from the beginning you should get this in 3-4 if you picked up every bomb available.

Shield Blaster (Silver) : Arcade - Collect 5 shield tokens while already having a shield
This one comes to a bit of luck and skill. You’ll first have to find a purple token which will give you a shield, then you have to avoid getting hit long enough to find another 5 shields. When you pick up a second shield it’ll act like a bomb destroying just about everything near you. If you encounter a yellow token for a ship you can let it degrade into a shield after ~10-15 seconds. If you lose your shield all is not lost, if you had set off two shield bombs you’ll start at two when you pick up another shield.

Scenic Route (Silver) : Arcade - Complete a planet without using boost
Simple, don’t use boost on a whole planet. Lave is the simplest to do so on.

Multiplier Hero (Gold) : Arcade - Get 10x multiplyer
This is a bit of an endurance challenge. Destroy everything. Enemies and asteroids count toward the multiplier, so no matter how small that asteroid is take it out. The higher the multiplier the longer it will take to get to the next multiplier. Try to get a shield if you can to keep from loosing your multiplier if you get hit. Use bombs and boost freely.

– The following require the Solo Pack addon
Extra Ships Optional (Bronze) : Endless - Survive 7 minutes without dying
Take it nice and easy. Take your time destroying things and avoid using the Nukes unless the planet is getting filled.

Close Encounters (Bronze) : Survive 45 seconds without shooting or using bombs
Evade, evade, evade! There’s not a while lot of tips I can give you here as its all about maneuvering. Picking up the Time tokens doesn’t count toward your 45 seconds so don’t risk it. You should be able to boost but there are conflicting reports about this. I personally ended a run with a boost and then destroyed at 45.65 seconds and did not get this, so its possible you actually need 46 seconds or not use boost.

Late Boomer (Silver) : Bomber - Get 15 bombs
This tip comes via PS3 Fanboy, as I just can’t seem to quite get this one just yet.
“This is the hardest Trophy in the game. The point of this Trophy is not to collect 15 bombs, but to have 15 bombs total. There are many reasons why this is so difficult. Firstly, you must be frugal with your bombs. You can ONLY use them to get more bombs. You spend one bomb to earn two, which means you cannot use your bombs on enemies. The general strategy will be to trail bomb ships when you see them, and only explode them when you absolutely must. DO NOT use bombs against enemies and rocks. You will simply have to dodge them. You’ll want to follow bomb ships for as long as possible, because if you’re lucky, you’ll be fortunate enough to have another one spawn next to it. If you can destroy two ships with one bomb, you’ll be making this much easier on yourself. Just like in Close Encounters, you’ll want to make very small, deliberate movements.”

Shock and Awe (Silver) : Endless - Destroy 10 nukes
It is vital to take out the Nukes as soon as they drop, and the easiest way to do this is either to boost through it (most preferred) or to use a bomb in it’s vicinity. The more time you spend the quicker the asteroids/enemies will become, so you really want to destroy as much as possible as fast as possible. I would suggest conserving your bombs if you can as you’ll definitely need them later. The first few nukes are pretty easy, but if you see a bunch of asteroids getting ready to land on top of you quickly boost away to prevent being destroyed. On the later levels you’ll be bombarded by relentless amounts of asteroids that’s impossible to keep up with destroying, this is when you should boost then bomb and then do a 360 flame wheel. Bomb again if you need to then boost again when you can. Boosting will destroy a few asteroids but the bombing will take out quite a few. As soon as you see the nuke make a dash for it. It’s likely you’ll have to repeat this process for at least 2 levels.

– The following require the Team Pack addon
Brothers In Arms (Gold) : Split screen Co-Op - Segomo - Get 3 minutes of Continuous Co-Op weapon boost
This has to be the easiest one there is. Just sit near a friend on Segome for 3 straight minutes. You can actually accomplish this yourself if you have an extra controller and can handle moving two ships at once. Just overlap your ships and move them in conjunction avoiding the four large Ice Asteroids that appear in the 1st phase. You’ll know you’re getting the boost because you’ll se a line connecting your ships and your rate of fire will be increased significantly. Yes it really is that simple.

Did you hear that? That's the sound of you unlocking another Trophy. With PixelJunk Eden and Uncharted's recent patch, Trophies have been on the minds of PlayStation fans everywhere. Well, here's some more good news: popular online multiplayer game, Warhawk, will be sporting Trophies by the end of this month. SCEE reports that patch 1.5 will release on August 27th (we're assuming a global release, a la Uncharted).

There will be over 50 Trophies to collect, depending on the number of expansion packs you have installed with the game. Hopefully, Dylan Jobe is keeping his word about the Platinum Trophy: you should be able to get it without having any of the expansions.

Also, SCEE reports that the game will get in-game music support with this update as well. That's an impressive patch, no? See details on the various Trophies and features here.

Developers only got their hands on Trophies recently, so it's unreasonable to expect games to be patched instantly. However, with Super Stardust HD enjoying a massive revival just now it's fair to say we'll be getting a lot more Trophy compatible games coming our way as soon as possible. What we're attempting to do here is tie everything together, and sum up which games will get patches, and when, with official confirmations where possible.
